National Nurses Week is almost here! Held annually from May 6 to 12, this period recognizes the invaluable contributions of these caregivers. It also concludes on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. This year, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) has chosen the theme “Care, Lead, Inspire — Repeat,” highlighting the continuous cycle of compassion, leadership, and inspiration that these clinicians provide on a daily basis.Â
A Brief History of National Nurses Week
The origin of National Nurses Week can be traced back to 1953 when Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare proposed a “Nurse Day” to President Eisenhower. President Nixon made an official proclamation to establish a National Nurse Week in 1974, and the American Nurses Association designated May 6 to 12 as the dates to recognize a National Nurses Week in 1993.
We hope that many people will take a moment during this time to acknowledge the selflessness, skill, and compassion that these professionals bring to their roles every day. As the backbone for the healthcare system, they have adapted to changing medical landscapes, as well as the development of new technologies and methodologies for enhancing patient care.
This is especially true when it comes to the realm of nurse triage.
TriageLogic’s Dedication to Empowering Nurses
At TriageLogic, we know that nurses are essential to delivering high-quality care. We are committed to supporting them through comprehensive education, employment opportunities, and innovative tools designed to enhance any doctor’s office or hospital.
Educational Resources for Nurse Triage
We want telephone triage nurses to have all of the information and tools that they need to succeed. That’s why we offer free resources in our telehealth learning center that cover Schmitt-Thompson triage protocols, patient caller assessments, and effective communication strategies to address patients’ needs. We also discuss liability and how to document all patient symptoms effectively.
Alongside our learning center, we also offer nurse triage certification and a two-week AI-enhanced training program. This program incorporates machine learning simulations that mimic live patient callers, giving nurses hands-on experience with diverse patient scenarios. Our modules ensure that nurses are well-prepared to handle the complexities of telephone triage by making care safer and more consistent.
Employment Opportunities in 24/7 Nurse Triage Call Centers
TriageLogic offers employment opportunities for registered nurses in our 24/7 nurse triage call center. These positions offer flexible shifts for nurses to utilize their clinical expertise in a telehealth setting. We train them to use standardized protocols to assess the severity of patient symptoms so that they can determine the most appropriate levels of care and guide patients to relevant providers.Â
Nurses who join our team can expect opportunities for professional development while influencing the well-being of patients on a national scale. Because we employ nurses across the country, we’re better able to help healthcare organizations meet the growing demand for after-hours patient care without overburdening their in-house staff.
Innovative Tools to Support Nurses in Clinical Settings
Our support extends well beyond our call center. For nurses in hospitals and doctors’ offices, we offer advanced triage solutions like our flagship software, myTriageChecklist®. It comes with the latest versions of Schmitt-Thompson protocols, allows nurses to document all call interactions, and can share patient information directly with practice EHRs.Â
Not only does this make it easier for patients to get answers to their medical questions, it also offers liability protection for nurses and their practices.
Be Thankful for Nurses
As we celebrate National Nurses Week 2025, it’s important to reflect on the profound impact that nurses have had on health outcomes, care innovation, and the community at large. Their compassion, resilience, and expertise drive the success of the entire healthcare system.
TriageLogic remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering nurses with the education, employment opportunities, and technology to thrive. Whether it’s through innovative triage software, 24/7 call center support, or free educational resources, we are proud to stand with nurses every step of the way.
