Helping Offices Decrease Triage Cost
Behind the scenes at TriageLogic, we have been working hard to figure out how to decrease provider expenses and enhance patient care at the same time. We are proud to announce an exciting new solution. MyNurseTriage is a resource that allows patients to bypass the answering service and request to speak to a nurse directly by entering their symptoms into our website or upcoming mobile app.
Saves Time and Money
In the current telephone nurse triage model, patients call in to the office after hours and are directed to an answering service that takes basic information and chief complaint, then forwards that on to the triage nurses call queue. Each time a patient speaks with an answering service, the provider is charged for that operator time to relay the message.
An average answering service costs about $1.00 per minute and the patient is on the phone for around two minutes. With MyNurseTriage, patients have the convenience of requesting a nurse call back without talking to an initial operator. At the same time, providers are able to avoid excess cost per call by allowing patients to bypass the answering service while improving access to care. Both patients and providers benefit.
How Does It Work
Providers inform patients that they can use the MyNurseTriage™ service for a nominal convenience fee and give their practice specific code to patients.
Once patients download the app or visit the website, they fill out a short registration form, including their Doctor’s practice specific code. This includes general information that the answering service would have gathered such as name, gender and DOB. When a patient needs to talk to a nurse, they enter their symptoms in the app or website and securely send that to our call center. A Registered Nurse calls back within 30 minutes or less and handles the call the same way the providers and patients are accustomed to.
